Trucking Hunger! Sean Rideout is a Changemaker
A U.S. Navy Veteran who feels “blessed to have gone on a lot of humanitarian missions,” Sean Rideout is a true changemaker, fighting hunger in Maryland by making sure neighbors have the resources—like food and clothing—they need to thrive.
After meeting enough people who “don’t have the income to support themselves as the prices are going up and for food and self-care and other resources,” Sean chose to act on his experience and decided to use the logistical and transportation assets that his company Bulk Brothers offers to host food and clothing drives, and also to help distribute the resources.
But there was a time when Sean was in need. Just having come home from a deployment to the Mediterranean, and while in between jobs, a friend invited him along to ‘feed the homeless.’ Even though Sean would tell his friend that he had nothing to gain, that trip changed his life.
“The Maryland Food Bank was there for me when I needed it, and I think it’s important to carry on the tradition and make sure it’s there for others when they need it.”
“My wife and I weren’t on the way to being homeless, but anything that could help take care of my family, I was in for. And that’s when this all started. I knew there were so many people one day away from needing help, and wanted to give back, so we started our own feed the homeless campaigns,” said Sean.
Since that visit, Sean and his team have helped distribute tens of thousands of meals and numerous pieces of clothing to countless neighbors, and are currently mentoring other Bulk Brothers staff who want to make a difference in their communities. ![]()
